Sir William Murray of Dunerne, 1st Bt.1

     Sir William Murray of Dunerne, 1st Bt. was the son of William Murray, 1st of Dunerne and Marjorie Schaw.2 He married Lady Margaret Alexander, daughter of William Alexander, 1st Earl of Stirling and Janet Erskine, on 27 July 1620.1 He was also reported to have been married on 3 August 1620.3 He died in 1646.1,3
     He purchased the lands and territorial Barony of Newton, Midlothian in 1628.1 He was created 1st Baronet Murray, of Dunerne, co. Fife [Nova Scotia] on 20 April 1630.1

     From 27 July 1620, her married name became Murray.
