Elizabeth Mowbray was born in 1823.2 She was the daughter of George Isaac Mowbray and Elizabeth Gray.3 She married Sir John Robert Mowbray, 1st Bt., son of Robert Stirling Cornish and Marianne Powning, on 19 August 1847.1 She died on 22 April 1899.1

(Conservative) for Durham between 1853 and 1868.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Durham.1 He held the office of Judge-Advocate General between 1858 and 1859.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berkshire.1 He held the office of Judge-Advocate General between 1866 and 1868.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Oxford University between 1868 and 1899.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham.1 He was created 1st Baronet Mowbray, of Mortimer, Berks and Bishopwearmouth, co. Durham [U.K.] on 3 May 1880.1
