     He fought in the First World War.¹

     Elvie May Downs was born on 28 October 1889 at Campbell Town, Tasmania, Australia^G.¹ She was the daughter of Edward Downs and Charlotte Smith.¹ She married James Francis Young, son of James Wallace Young and Sarah Hepburn, on 12 January 1914 at Tasmania, Australia^G.¹ She died on 17 February 1967 at age 77 at Campbell Town, Tasmania, Australia^G.¹ She was buried on 19 February 1967 at Swansea, Tasmania, Australia^G.¹
     From 12 January 1914, her married name became Young.¹
