John Maccallum, 3rd of Knockalva was the son of Donald Maccallum, 7th of Poltalloch and Margaret Campbell.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Campbell, daughter of Alexander Campbell of Glenborrodale, in 1725.1 He married, secondly, Janet McGillespy in 1741.1 He died in 1773.1

Neill Malcolm, 11th of Poltalloch was born circa 1738.1 He was the son of John Maccallum, 3rd of Knockalva and Margaret Campbell.2 He married Mary Brisset, daughter of John Brisset, circa 1765.1 He died on 1 April 1802.1
He was a merchant at Jamaica.1 He introduced extensive reconstruction at Poltalloch and Duntroon, and was much interested in the cutting of the Crinan Canal.1
