In 1857 he returned to England for schooling and later entered the service of the Honourable East India Comapny.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 13th Native Infantry.1

Michael Fenton1 
Michael Fenton was born in 1789 at Castle Town, County Sligo, Ireland.3 He was the son of Michael Fenton.2 He married Elizabeth Sinclair Knox, daughter of Reverend John Russel Knox, on 3 April 1828 at Calcutta, India.4,3 He died on 6 April 1874 at Fenton Forest, New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia.2
He was commissioned in 1807, in the service of the 13th Light Infatry.4 He retired from the military in 1828, with the rank of Captain, late of the 13th Light Infantry.1 He held the office of Speaker of House of Assembly [Tasmania], the first.1 He lived at Fenton Forest, New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia.1
