     Lt.-Col. Ronald Gillean Maclaine was born on 25 January 1883.¹ He was the son of Murdoch Gillean Maclaine, 23rd of Lochbuie and Katherine Marian Schwabe.² He married Sylvia James, daughter of Major William Charles James, on 2 August 1919.¹ He died on 16 October 1966 at age 83.¹
     He was educated at Glenalmond College, Glenalmond, Perthshire, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1916.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.¹

     Sylvia James was born in 1889.³ She was the daughter of Major William Charles James.¹ She married, firstly, Lieutenant Rhys Campbell ffolliott Powell, son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Charles Herbert Powell and Alice Mackenzie, before 1914. She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Ronald Gillean Maclaine, son of Murdoch Gillean Maclaine, 23rd of Lochbuie and Katherine Marian Schwabe, on 2 August 1919.¹ She died on 18 April 1920.¹
     From before 1919, her married name became Powell. From 2 August 1919, her married name became Maclaine.

     Pamela Jane Maclaine was born on 11 April 1920.¹ She is the daughter of Lt.-Col. Ronald Gillean Maclaine and Sylvia James.² She married Michael Robert Kenneth, son of James Kenneth, on 20 August 1940.¹
     From 20 August 1940, her married name became Kenneth.

     James Kenneth lived at Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹

     Michael Robert Kenneth is the son of James Kenneth.² He married Pamela Jane Maclaine, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ronald Gillean Maclaine and Sylvia James, on 20 August 1940.¹

     Kathleen Emilie Maclaine was born on 27 February 1870.¹ She was the daughter of Murdoch Gillean Maclaine, 23rd of Lochbuie and Katherine Marian Schwabe.² She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. James Somervell of Sorn Castle, son of Graham Somervell, on 21 January 1892.¹ She and Lt.-Col. James Somervell of Sorn Castle were divorced in 1919.¹ She married, secondly, Major Edwin Sandys Dawes, son of Sir Edwyn Sandys Dawes and Lucy Emily Bagnall, on 9 July 1920.² She died on 13 July 1947 at age 77.¹
     From 21 January 1892, her married name became Somervell. From 9 July 1920, her married name became Dawes.²

     Graham Somervell was given the name of Graham Russell at birth.²

     Lt.-Col. James Somervell of Sorn Castle was the son of Graham Somervell.² He married Kathleen Emilie Maclaine, daughter of Murdoch Gillean Maclaine, 23rd of Lochbuie and Katherine Marian Schwabe, on 21 January 1892.¹ He and Kathleen Emilie Maclaine were divorced in 1919.¹ He died on 10 February 1924.²
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹

     Mabel Julia Maclaine was born on 18 November 1872.¹ She was the daughter of Murdoch Gillean Maclaine, 23rd of Lochbuie and Katherine Marian Schwabe.² She married Brig.-Gen. Charles Alexander Hugh Maclean of Pennycross, son of Archibald John Maclean of Pennycross, on 1 July 1897.¹ She died on 10 November 1926 at age 53.¹
     From 1 July 1897, her married name became Maclean.
