Admiral Sir Charles Douglas, 1st Bt.1 
Admiral Sir Charles Douglas, 1st Bt. was born in 1727 at Carr, Perthshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of Charles Ayton Douglas and Christian Hepburn of Kinglassie.2 He married, thirdly, Jane Baillie, daughter of John Baillie.2 He married, firstly, Uranie Lidie Marteilhe before 1763.3 He married, secondly, Sarah Wood, daughter of John Wood, after 1769.3 He died on 19 March 1789 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3,4 He was also reported to have died on 17 March 1789.2
He fought in the American War of Independence in 1776, where he forced a passage up the St. Lawrence and relieved Quebec.2 He was created 1st Baronet Douglas, of Carr, co. Perth [Great Britain] on 23 January 1777.3
