Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson of Aldworth was born on 6 August 1809 at Somersby Rectory, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Reverend George Clayton Tennyson and Elizabeth ffytche.1,2 He married Emily Sarah Sellwood, daughter of Henry Sellwood, on 13 June 1850.1 He died on 6 October 1892 at age 83.1 He was buried in 1892 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, EnglandG.2
He was educated at Louth Grammar School, Louth, Lincolnshire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He wrote the book Poems, published 1842.1 He wrote the book The Princess, published 1847.1 He wrote the book In Memoriam, published 1850.1 He held the office of Poet Laureate in 1850.2 He wrote the book Maud, published 1855.1 He wrote the book The Idylls of the King, published 1859.1 He wrote the book Enoch Arden, published 1864.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1865.1 He wrote the book The Charge of the Light Brigade.1 He was created 1st Baron Tennyson of Aldworth, co. Sussex and of Freshwater in the Isle of Wight [U.K.] on 24 January 1884.1 He wrote the book Crossing the Bar, published 1889.1
