He was educated at Winchmore Hill School, London, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1821 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was ordained on 17 June 1821.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1825 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a headmaster between 1838 and 1843 at Maidstone, Kent, England.1 In 1843 he was ‘publicly advertised as a bankrupt on the day before he was to enter on his duties; came to an arrangement with his creditors after 6 weeks.1‘ He was the Headmaster between 1843 and 1854 at Grammar School, Sevenoaks, Kent, England.1 He was ‘accused of ill-treating a pupil and of general neglect of his duty’ but ‘cleared himself with the wardens.1‘
