     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.¹ He gained the rank of Air Commodore in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre avec palmes.¹ He was awarded the Croix des Vaillants of Poland.¹ He was awarded the Order of George I of Greece with crossed swords.¹ He was awarded the Legion of Merit U.S.¹ He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Connaught.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Viscount of Granard, co. Longford [I., 1675] on 10 September 1948.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Baron Clanehugh, co. Longford [I., 1675] on 10 September 1948.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Granard [I., 1684] on 10 September 1948.¹ He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Forbes, of Castle Forbes, Co. Longford, Ireland [N.S., 1628] on 10 September 1948.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Baron Granard of Castle Donnington, co. Leicester [U.K., 1806] on 10 September 1948.¹ He was a director of Texaco in 1972.¹ He was a director of Reckitt & Colman in 1973.¹

     Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel was the daughter of Jean Maurel.¹ She married, firstly, Prince Humbert de Faucigny-Lucinge before 1949.¹ She married, secondly, Arthur Patrick Hastings Forbes, 9th Earl of Granard, son of Bernard Arthur William Patrick Hastings Forbes, 8th Earl of Granard and Beatrice Mills, on 29 July 1949.¹ She died in 1990.¹
     From before 1949, her married name became de Faucigny-Lucinge.¹ From 29 July 1949, her married name became Forbes. After her marriage, Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel was styled as Countess of Granard on 29 July 1949.

     Lady Moira Beatrice Forbes was born on 2 February 1951.¹ She is the daughter of Arthur Patrick Hastings Forbes, 9th Earl of Granard and Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel.¹ She married, firstly, Prince Charles-Antoine Marie Lamoral de Ligne de la Trémoïlle, son of Prince Jean Charles de Ligne and Maria del Rosario de Lambertye-Gerbeviller, on 2 February 1971.¹ She and Prince Charles-Antoine Marie Lamoral de Ligne de la Trémoïlle were divorced in 1974.¹ She married, secondly, José de Guerrico Casado-Sastre in 1978.¹
     From 2 February 1971, her married name became de Ligne de la Trémoïlle.¹ From 1978, her married name became Guerrico.¹ She lived in 2003 at 5 Avenue Princesse Alice, Monte Carlo, Monaco^G.¹

     Hon. John Forbes was born on 8 October 1920.¹ He was the son of Bernard Arthur William Patrick Hastings Forbes, 8th Earl of Granard and Beatrice Mills.¹ He married Joan Smith, daughter of A. Edward Smith, on 23 January 1947.¹ He died in 1982.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, in 1947 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹

     Joan Smith is the daughter of A. Edward Smith.¹ She married Hon. John Forbes, son of Bernard Arthur William Patrick Hastings Forbes, 8th Earl of Granard and Beatrice Mills, on 23 January 1947.¹
