     Major James Rutherford Lumley was born on 9 November 1917 at Lahore, Pakistan.1,3 He was the son of Charles Chester Lumley and Ella Marian Lamond Young.1 He married Thyra Beatrice Rose Weir, daughter of Lt.-Col. James Leslie Rose Weir and Thyra Letitia Alexandra Sommers, in 1941.1 He died in August 1999 at age 81 at Ashford, Kent, England.1
     He fought in the Second World War, in Burma.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 6th Gurkha Rifles.1
