     James Innes was born in 1699.1 He was the son of John Innes, 6th of Edingight and Helen Strachan.2 He married Anne Garden on 5 December 1728.1 He died on 29 March 1757, without male issue.1
     He held the office of Provost of Banff between 1744 and 1748.1 He held the office of Provost of Banff between 1750 and 1753.1
