     Maria Duff was born on 13 February 1796.2 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Patrick Duff of Carnousie.3 She married, firstly, Francis Garden-Campbell, 7th of Troup and of Glenlyon in 1822.1,2 She married, secondly, James Ramsay, son of John Ramsay of Barra and Mary Ramsay, on 13 August 1827 at Westminster, London, England.1,2
     From 1822, her married name became Garden-Campbell.1 From 13 August 1827, her married name became Ramsay.1
