     William Strang Steel of Philiphaugh was born on 6 October 1832.² He was the son of John Steel and Grace Strang.² He married, firstly, Rosetta Barber on 25 October 1881.² He married, secondly, Florence Elphinstone Ford, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Burnett Ford, on 28 April 1908.² He died on 2 January 1911 at age 78.²
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Selkirkshire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Selkirkshire.¹

     Grace Strang Steel was born on 25 November 1884.² She was the daughter of William Strang Steel of Philiphaugh and Rosetta Barber.² She married Sir Aylmer Gould Hunter-Weston, 27th of Hunterston, son of Lt.-Col. Gould Reas Hunter-Weston and Jane Hunter-Weston, 26th of Hunterston, on 5 December 1905.¹ She died on 28 February 1954 at age 69.¹
     From 5 December 1905, her married name became Hunter-Weston. She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.) in 1925.¹

     Sonia Isabelle Jane Furlong was born on 11 October 1930 at Reading, Berkshire, England.² She was the daughter of Brigadier Dennis Walter Furlong and Nancy Isabelle Cecil Charrington.³ She married Neil Aylmer Hunter, 29th of Hunterston, son of William John Charles Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick and Natalie Bertha Tanner, on 5 July 1952.¹ She died on 20 November 2012 at age 82 at Paris, France.²
     She graduated in 1965 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ From 5 July 1952, her married name became Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick. From 28 January 1970, her married name became Hunter. She lived in 2003 at Balcó d’Ordino, Bloc II, Ordino, Andorra.¹

     Charles Dennis Hunter, younger of Hunterston was born on 16 February 1954.¹ He is the son of Neil Aylmer Hunter, 29th of Hunterston and Sonia Isabelle Jane Furlong.² He married, secondly, Eszter Olah.³ He married, firstly, Joanna Morison, daughter of Alastair Malcolm Morison, Lord Morison and Lindsay Balfour Oatts, on 27 July 1979.¹ He and Joanna Morison were divorced.¹
     He was given the name of Charles Dennis Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick at birth.³ He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He graduated from University of New South Wales, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (Hons.)³ He graduated from University of Technology, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)³
