     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Reserve Officers Grenadier Guards.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He was chairman of the Association of Biscuit Manufacturers.2 He was chairman of Huntley & Palmers.2 He was director of Huntley, Boorne & Stevens.2 He was joint Master of Fox Hounds (M.F.H.) of Garth between 1931 and 1936.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Berkshire in 1935.1,2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Berkshire in 1953.2
