Lt.-Col. Hon. Francis Grosvenor Hood1

     Lt.-Col. Hon. Francis Grosvenor Hood was born on 4 March 1809.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Francis Wheler Hood and Caroline Hamond.2 He married Elizabeth Jane Hamond, daughter of Admiral Sir Graham Eden Hamond, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Kimber, on 8 September 1842.1 He died on 18 October 1854 at age 45 at Sebastopol, Russia, killed in action in the trenches, without issue.1
     He was granted by royal licence the rank of viscount’s younger son.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Grenadier Guards.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1

Admiral Sir Graham Eden Hamond, 2nd Bt.1

     Admiral Sir Graham Eden Hamond, 2nd Bt. was born on 30 December 1779 at Newman Street, London, England.2 He was the son of Sir Andrew Snape Hamond, 1st Bt. and Anne Graeme.3,2 He married Elizabeth Kimber, daughter of John Kimber, on 30 December 1806.2 He died on 20 December 1862 at age 82 at Norton Lodge, Freshwater, Isle of Wight, England.2
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 4 June 1815.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Hamond [G.B., 1783] on 12 October 1828.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 13 September 1831.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the Isle of Wight.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Norfolk.3 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) on 5 July 1855.2 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet on 10 November 1862.2

     From 25 February 1834, her married name became Gregory. She was granted by royal licence the rank of viscount’s daughter.1

Arthur Francis Gregory1
