Sir Samuel Hannay of Mochrum and of Kirkdale, 4th Bt.1 
He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Hannay, of Mochrum, co. Kirkcudbright [N.S., 1630] on 11 December 1790.1 He was an official for the Emperor of Austria at Vienna, AustriaG.1
On his death, his baronetcy became dormant.1

Stanley Melbourne Bruce, 1st and last Viscount Bruce of Melbourne1 
Stanley Melbourne Bruce, 1st and last Viscount Bruce of Melbourne was born on 15 April 1883.1 He was the son of John Monroe Bruce.1 He married Ethel Dunlop Anderson, daughter of Andrew George Anderson, in 1913.1 He died on 25 August 1967 at age 84, without issue.1
He was educated at Melbourne Grammar School, Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaG.1 He was educated in 1904 at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1907.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the Worcestershire Regiment and Royal Fusiliers.3 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1917, where he was mentioned in despatches and wounded twice.3 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre avec palme.3 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [Australia] between 1918 and 1929, for Flinders.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1923.3 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1923.3 He held the office of Minister for External Affairs [Australia] between 1923 and 1929.3 He held the office of Prime Minister of Australia between 1923 and 1929.3 He was appointed Companion of Honour (C.H.) in 1927.1,3 He held the office of Australian Minister for London between 1932 and 1933.3 He held the office of High Commissioner for Australia in London between 1933 and 1945.3 He was created 1st Viscount Bruce of Melbourne, of Westminster Gardens, in the City of Westminster [U.K.] on 18 March 1947.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Australian National University between 1951 and 1961.3
On his death, his viscountancy became extinct.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4
