Sir Joseph Hood, 1st Bt. was born on 31 March 1863.1 He was the son of John Hood and Eliza Hood.2 He married, firstly, Katherine Kenny, daughter of Martin Kenny, on 11 May 1900.1 He married, secondly, Marie Josephine Robinson, daughter of Archibald Robinson, on 17 April 1915.1 He died on 10 January 1931 at age 67.1
He was a practising solicitor in 1890.1 He was assistant controller, Ministry of Information in 1918.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Unionist) for Wimbledon between 1918 and 1924.1 He was deputy chairman of British American Tobacco.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Hood, of Wimbledon, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 16 January 1922.1 He held the office of Mayor of Wimbledon between 1930 and 1931.2
