From 11 June 1724, her married name became Byng.2 After her marriage, Lady Charlotte Montagu was styled as Viscountess Torrington on 17 January 1733.

Pattee Byng, 2nd Viscount Torrington was baptised on 25 May 1699.1 He was the son of Admiral George Byng, 1st Viscount Torrington and Margaret Master.1 He married Lady Charlotte Montagu, daughter of Charles Montagu, 1st Duke of Manchester and Doddington Greville, on 11 June 1724.1 He died on 23 January 1746/47 at age 47, without issue.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Plymouth between 1721 and 1727.1 He was Treasurer of the Navy between 1724 and 1734.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Bedfordshire between 1727 and 1733.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1732.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Byng of Southill, co. Bedford [G.B., 1721] on 17 January 1732/33.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Torrington, co. Devon [G.B., 1721] on 17 January 1732/33.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Byng, of Wrotham, Kent [G.B., 1715] on 17 January 1732/33.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1734.1
