Richard Nicholas Crossley was born on 24 December 1932.2 He was the son of Francis Savile Crossley, 2nd Baron Somerleyton and Bridget Hoare.2 He married, firstly, Alexandra Anne Maitland Welch, daughter of W/Cdr. Charles Donald Graham Welch, on 30 April 1958.2 He married, secondly, Priscilla Ann Graham, daughter of Major Alastair Graham and Gundreda Margaret Graham-Jones, in 1995.1 He died on 8 August 2014 at age 81.3
     Hon. Richard Nicholas Crossley usually went by his middle name of Nicholas.2 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1,2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1961 in the 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1973.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1973 and 1976 in the QOY (Territorial Army.)2 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp TAVR to HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1980.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of North Yorkshire in 1988.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of North Yorkshire in 1989.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 2002.2 He lived in 2003 at Westfield Farm, Norton, Yorkshire, England.2
