     James Sandilands was the son of James Sandilands of Cruvie and Elizabeth Meldrum.1 He married by contract, firstly, Elizabeth Betoun, daughter of Robert Betoun of Creich, on 21 May 1561.2 He married by contract, secondly, Isabel Strang, daughter of John Strang of Balcaskie, on 9 September 1569.2 He died on 29 March 1580.1,2

James Sandilands1

     James Sandilands was the son of Sir James Sandilands, 5th of Calder and Margaret Kerr.1 He married Catherine Scott, daughter of Sir William Scott.1 He died before 15 May 1534.2
     On 17 May 1509 he received a charter from his nephew conveying to him the Kinloch estates, consisting of Cruvie and others in exchange for Calder.2
