He was educated in 1719 at Westminster School, London, England.4 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 4 November 1720.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1723 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Strabane [Ireland] between 1727 and 1760.1 He lived between 1738 and 1773 at Painshill Park, Cobham, Surrey, England.3 He was Clerk Comptroller to the Household of Frederick, Prince of Wales between 22 April 1738 and 1746.1,3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Truro between 1741 and 1747.1 He was first of seven commissioners for examining and stating the public accounts on 26 May 1742.1 He was Receiver-General of the King’s revenues for Minorca between 22 December 1743 and 1747.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in March 1747.2 He lived at Hope House, Lansdown Hill, Bath, Somerset, England, which he built.3
