     He fought in the Zulu War.¹ He fought in the Egyptian War.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Sussex Regiment.¹

     Colonel Henry Grattan was born on 10 July 1903.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Grattan and Muriel Bright.¹ He married Vera Kathleen Isabel Schofield, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Hugh Samuel Schofield, on 6 January 1934.¹ He died in October 1997 at age 94 at Yeovil, Somerset, England.²
     He was educated at Berkhamsted School, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Engineers.¹ He fought in the Second World War, and was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1955.¹ He lived in 1972 at Bratton Lodge, Bratton Seymour, Somerset, England.¹

     Lt.-Col. William Hugh Samuel Schofield gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.¹

     Vera Kathleen Isabel Schofield is the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Hugh Samuel Schofield.² She married Colonel Henry Grattan, son of Lt.-Col. John Grattan and Muriel Bright, on 6 January 1934.¹
     From 6 January 1934, her married name became Grattan.

     Commander John Grattan was born on 25 September 1934.¹ He is the son of Colonel Henry Grattan and Vera Kathleen Isabel Schofield.² He married Marjorie Gracie Leadbeater, daughter of Percy Leadbeater, on 8 August 1959.¹
     He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England^G.¹ He was a Qualified Clearance Diving Officer in 1958.¹ In 1961 Torpedo & Ante Submarine.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1968.¹ He gained the rank of Commander in 1970 in the Royal Navy.¹ He lived in 1972 at 20 Abbotsleigh Road, London, England.¹
