     Major Irvine Low was the son of General Sir John Low and Augusta Ludlow Shakespear.^1,2 He married Janet Agnes Harriet Liston Foulis, daughter of Sir William Liston Foulis of Woodhall, 8th Bt. and Mary Anne Cadell, on 29 November 1865.¹ He died on 26 June 1881.^1,2
     He gained the rank of Major in the Bengal Cavalry.¹ He was Deputy Commissioner in Oude.²
