Lt.-Col. James Alexander MacNabb of that Ilk, 21st Chief was born on 26 December 1901 at Keighley, Yorkshire, England.3,2 He was the son of James Frederick Macnabb and Margaret Elizabeth Waterworth.4 He married, firstly, Ursula Barnett, daughter of Charles Frederick Robert Barnett and Cicley Frances Cornish, on 7 July 1925.1 He and Ursula Barnett were divorced in 1937.3 He married, secondly, Pauline Mary Beatrice Shears, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Phillip James Shears and Mary E. Gibbons, on 4 January 1938.3 He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Anne Simonds, daughter of John Hayes Simonds and Alice Rhoda Sturges, on 19 September 1958.3 He and Pauline Mary Beatrice Shears were divorced in 1949.3 He died on 6 April 1990 at age 88 at Westminster, London, England.3,2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.3 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was commander of the 41 Mortar Regiment WAA.3 He fought in the Second World War between 1944 and 1945, in Burma.3 He was appointed Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants (F.C.A.)4 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)3 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1976.3 He resigned his rights in the Chiefship to his uncle Archibald Corrie Macnab.3 He lived at Bramerton Street, London, England.3
