Ian Colin Orr-Ewing was born on 8 February 1942.¹ He was the son of Charles Ian Orr-Ewing, Baron Orr-Ewing and Joan Helen Veronica McMinnies.² He married, firstly, Deirdre Janet Japhet, daughter of Lance K. Japhet, in 1973.¹ He and Deirdre Janet Japhet were divorced in 1980.¹ He married, secondly, Fleur Knight, daughter of Dr. Gavin Knight, in 1986.¹ He died on 3 August 2016 at age 74.³

     Deirdre Janet Japhet is the daughter of Lance K. Japhet.² She married Hon. Ian Colin Orr-Ewing, son of Charles Ian Orr-Ewing, Baron Orr-Ewing and Joan Helen Veronica McMinnies, in 1973.¹ She and Hon. Ian Colin Orr-Ewing were divorced in 1980.¹
     Deirdre Janet Japhet also went by the nick-name of Dee.¹ From 1973, her married name became Orr-Ewing.
