     General Sir David Graham Muschet Campbell was born on 28 January 1869.1 He was the son of Major H. W. Campbell.1 He married Janet Mary Aikman, daughter of Sir Robert Smith Aikman and Marianne (?), in 1899.1 He died on 12 March 1936 at age 67.1
     He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1889, in the service of the 9th Lancers.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was mentioned in despatches six times.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1916.1 He was commander of the cavalry brigade, 21st Division between 1916 and 1919.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1919.1 He was GOC of the Baluchistan District between 1920 and 1924.1 He was GOC-in-C of the Aldershot Command between 1927 and 1931.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1930 in the 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to King George V between 1931 and 1935.1 He held the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Malta between 1931 and 1936.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1935.1
