He was given the name of James Henderson Stewart at birth.1 He was educated at Morrisons Academy, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland.1 He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 1922 with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.)1 He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 1923 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was on Lloyd George’s staff between 1924 and 1929.1 He was with Unilever between 1929 and 1933.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Fife between 1933 and 1961.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded.1 He held the office of Joint Parlimentary Under-Secretary for the Scottish Office between 1952 and 1957.1 On 1957 Sir James Henderson-Stewart, 1st Bt. title’s name changed to James Henderson Henderson-Stewart by Deed Poll.1 He was created 1st Baronet Henderson-Stewart, of Callumshill, co. Perth [U.K.] on 28 March 1957.1
