     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Rochester between 1667 and 1669.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Head, of the Hermitage, co. Kent [England] on 19 June 1676.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Rochester between March 1679 and July 1679.¹ In 1688 he was given an emerald ring by King James II for playing host to him in his flight from London (which was stolen from the 7th Bt.)¹

     Elizabeth Merrick is the daughter of Francis Merrick.¹ She married Sir Richard Head, 1st Bt., son of Richard Head and Anne Hartridge, circa 1640.¹
     From circa 1640, her married name became Head.

     Francis Head was born circa 1641.¹ He was the son of Sir Richard Head, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Merrick.¹ He married Sarah Ent, daughter of Sir George Ent, in 1667.¹ He died on 16 October 1678.¹
     He was a practising barrister.¹
