     He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.)¹ He was registered as a Member, Institution of Mining and Metallurgy (M.I.M.M.)¹ He fought in the Boer War.¹ He fought in the First World War, in Hyderabad Volunteer Rifles.¹

     James Woulfe Hay was born on 31 December 1910.¹ He is the son of Alexander Hay and Kathleen Hare.¹ He married Edith Mary Myrton, daughter of Arthur Henry Myrton, on 11 February 1933.¹
     He fought in the Second World War, in the South African Medium Regiment.¹
