     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.² He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.² He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of South Africa between 1933 and 1935.² He retired from the military in 1951, with the rank of Major, late of the Coldstream Guards.² He was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)²

     Karl Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck was born in 1895.¹ He married Marie Alice Anna Gabriela Margarethe Gräfin Henckel von Donnersmarck, daughter of unknown Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck, on 28 October 1919 at Breslau, Czech Republic^G.¹ He died in 1940.¹
