He fought in the Second World War, and he was mentioned in despatches.1 He retired from the military, with the rank of Wing Commander, late of the Royal Air Force.1 He was chairman of Gerald Duckworth & Company, publishers between 1948 and 1970.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Horder [U.K., 1933] on 13 August 1955.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Horder [U.K., 1923] on 13 August 1955.3 On his death his titles became extinct.
