     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.2
