     David Geddes was born in 1751.¹ He was the son of George Geddes and Katherine Johnstone.² He married Margaret Cruikshank, daughter of Andrew Cruikshank.¹ He died in October 1811.¹
     He was merchant, shipowner, and agent for the Hudson Bay Company.¹ He was Assistant Deputy Paymaster-General to General Burgoyne during the American War of Independence with rank of Colonel in 1777.¹

     Margaret Cruikshank is the daughter of Andrew Cruikshank.² She married David Geddes, son of George Geddes and Katherine Johnstone.¹
     Her married name became Geddes.

     George Geddes was born on 28 January 1786.¹ He was the son of David Geddes and Margaret Cruikshank.² He married Elizabeth Anderson, daughter of James Anderson, circa 1814.¹ He died in 1840.¹
     He was merchant and Hudson Bay Company agent.¹ He lived at Geddes House, Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland^G.¹

     Elizabeth Anderson was the daughter of James Anderson.² She married George Geddes, son of David Geddes and Margaret Cruikshank, circa 1814.¹ She died in 1838.¹
     From circa 1814, her married name became Geddes.

     Auckland Campbell Geddes was born on 4 February 1831.¹ He was the son of George Geddes and Elizabeth Anderson.² He married Christina Helen McLeod Anderson, daughter of Reverend Dr. Alexander Anderson, in 1870.¹ He died on 18 March 1908 at age 77.¹
     He was educated at Edinburgh Institution, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was civil engineer in India, designing the Jumna Bridge and various railways.¹

     Reverend Dr. Alexander Anderson graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.)¹ He lived at Chanonry, Old Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Christina Helen McLeod Anderson was the daughter of Reverend Dr. Alexander Anderson.² She married Auckland Campbell Geddes, son of George Geddes and Elizabeth Anderson, in 1870.¹ She died on 24 June 1914.¹
     From 1870, her married name became Geddes.

     Sir Eric Campbell Geddes was born on 26 September 1875.¹ He was the son of Auckland Campbell Geddes and Christina Helen McLeod Anderson.² He married Ada Gwendolen Stokes, daughter of Reverend Arthur Stokes, on 2 November 1900 at India.^1,3 He died on 22 June 1937 at age 61.¹
     He was a railway engineer in America, India and England.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1913 in the Engineering and Railway Staff Corps, Royal Engineers (Territorial Forces.)¹
He was Deputy General-Manager of NER.¹ He was Deputy Director-General of Munitions Supply in 1915.¹ He gained the rank of Honorary Major-General in 1916.¹ He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1916.¹ He was Director-General of Military Railways, War Office and Transportation of British Armies, France in 1916.¹ He was Inspector-General of Transporatation between 1916 and 1917.¹ He was Navy Controller and Member of the Board of Admiralty in 1917.¹ He held the office of Honorary and Temporary Vice-Admiral in 1917.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1917.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1917.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Sheffield University, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of First Lord of the Admiralty between 1917 and 1918.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cambridge between 1917 and 1922.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.¹ He was awarded the Order of Leopold of Belgium.¹ He was awarded the Grand Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1919.¹ He was president of the Institute of Transport between 1919 and 1920.¹ He held the office of Minister of Transport between 1919 and 1921.¹ He was chairman of Imperial Airways.¹ He was chairman of Dunlop Rubber.¹
