Richard Weston, 1st Earl of Portland was born on 1 March 1576/77 at Chicheley, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.3 He was the son of Sir Jerome Weston and Mary Cave.3 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Pincheon, daughter of William Pincheon and Rose Reding. He married, secondly, Frances Waldegrave, daughter of Nicholas Waldegrave and Catherine Browne, before 1605.4 He died on 13 March 1634/35 at age 58 at Wallingford House, Whitehall, London, EnglandG.3
He held the office of Lord High Treasurer [England].5 He gained the title of 1st Earl of Portland. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Maldron on 28 September 1601.6 He was appointed Knight on 23 July 1603.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Midhurst on 29 March 1604.6 He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1621 and 1628.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bodmin on 21 January 1625/26.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Callington on 25 April 1626.6 He was created 1st Baron Weston, of Neyland on 13 April 1628.
