     Sir Andrew Fairbairn was born on 5 March 1828.¹ He was the son of Sir Peter Fairbairn and Margaret Kennedy.² He married Clara Frederica Loraine, daughter of Sir John Lambton Loraine, 10th Bt., on 6 November 1862.¹ He died on 31 May 1901 at age 73.¹
     He graduated from Peterhouse College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was 37th Wrangler.¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1852 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the West Riding, Yorkshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leeds.¹ He held the office of Mayor of Leeds between 1866 and 1868.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1868.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1875 in the Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 7th York Royal Volunteers.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for the West Riding of Yorkshire, East Division between 1880 and 1885.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Otley between 1885 and 1886.¹ He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.)¹ He was chairman of Fairbairn, Lawson, Combe, Barbour Ltd, machine-makers.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1892.¹ He lived at Askham Hall, York, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Reginald Appleby was born in May 1960.¹ He is the son of Reginald Thomas Appleby and Iris Pauline Nina Finch.¹

     Clara Frederica Loraine was the daughter of Sir John Lambton Loraine, 10th Bt.² She married Sir Andrew Fairbairn, son of Sir Peter Fairbairn and Margaret Kennedy, on 6 November 1862.¹ She died on 2 March 1922.
     She was appointed Lady of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (L.G.St.J.)¹ From 6 November 1862, her married name became Fairbairn.

     Elizabeth Yorstoun Fairbairn was the daughter of Sir Peter Fairbairn and Margaret Kennedy.² She married William Wailes on 17 February 1859.¹ She died on 4 August 1917.¹
     From 17 February 1859, her married name became Wailes.

     William Wailes married Elizabeth Yorstoun Fairbairn, daughter of Sir Peter Fairbairn and Margaret Kennedy, on 17 February 1859.¹
     He lived at Bath, Somerset, England^G.¹

     Major William Fairbairn Wailes-Fairbairn is the son of William Wailes and Elizabeth Yorstoun Fairbairn.²
