Captain Henry Elton was born on 16 July 1786 at West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Rev. Sir Abraham Elton, 5th Bt. and Elizabeth Durbin.3 He married Mary Ford, daughter of Sir Francis Ford, 1st Bt. and Mary Anson, on 20 July 1816.1 He died on 10 November 1858 at age 72.1
He was commissioned on 6 March 1807 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the Royal Navy on H.M.S. Cornwallis, frigate.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He lived at 17 Lower Crescent, Clifton, Bristol, England.2
