He was given the name of Edward Elton at birth.1 On 1 August 1831 his name was legally changed to Edward Marwood-Elton by Royal Licence.1 He was created 1st Baronet Marwood-Elton, of Widworthy, Devon [U.K.] on 1 August 1838.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.)1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1858.1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1
