     Sir Lancelot Henry Elphinstone was born on 2 September 1879.¹ He was the son of Sir Howard Warburton Elphinstone, 3rd Bt. and Constance Mary Alexander Hankey.² He married Jane Edith Jamieson, daughter of Robert Jarvie Jamieson, on 7 February 1913.¹ He died on 11 October 1965 at age 86, without issue.¹

[Ceylon] in 1925.¹ He held the office of Chief Justice [Federated Malay States] between 1929 and 1932.¹ He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1931.¹ He was chairman of the Pensions Appeals Tribunal between 1944 and 1954.¹
