Lt.-Gen. George Augustus Eliott, 1st Baron Heathfield of Gibraltar was born on 14 December 1717.1 He was the son of Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 3rd Bt. and Eleanor Elliot.3 He married Anne Pollexfen Drake, daughter of Sir Francis Henry Drake, 4th Bt. and Anne Heathcote, on 10 June 1748.1 He died on 6 July 1790 at age 72.1
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.)4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General.1 Between June 1779 and 1783 he defended Gibraltar against the French.1 He was created 1st Baron Heathfield of Gibraltar, of Heathfield, Sussex [Great Britain] on 14 June 1787.1
