     Elizabeth Dundas is the daughter of Sir James Dundas of Arniston.¹ A contract for the marriage of Elizabeth Dundas and Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank was signed on 24 January 1616/17.¹
     From 24 January 1616/17, her married name became Murray.¹

     Sir Gideon Murray, Lord Elibank was the son of Sir Andrew Murray of Blackbarony and Grizel Bethune.² A contract for the marriage of Sir Gideon Murray, Lord Elibank and Margaret Pentland was signed in June 1587.¹ He died on 28 June 1621.¹
     On 15 March 1594/95 he acquired Elibank or Eliburne, Selkirkshire, by charter under the Great Seal.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1605.¹ He was Commissioner for the Borders between 1605 and 1617.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1610.¹ He was one of the New Octavians controlling Scottish Treasury business in 1611.¹ He held the office of Lord of the Articles for the small Barons in 1612.¹ He held the office of Treasurer Depute in 1612.¹ He held the office of a Lord of Session between 1613 and 1621.¹ He was styled as Lord Elibank [Scottish Law Lord] between 1613 and 1621.¹

     Margaret Pentland is the daughter of Dionis Pentland.² A contract for the marriage of Margaret Pentland and Sir Gideon Murray, Lord Elibank was signed in June 1587.¹
     From June 1587, her married name became Murray. The marriage was uncompleted before the kirk, none the less ruled lawful and the issue legitimate by Edinburgh Commissaries on 4 June 1601.¹

     Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank was the son of Sir Gideon Murray, Lord Elibank and Margaret Pentland.² He married by contract, firstly, Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Alexander Hamilton, 9th of Innerwick and Margaret Whytelaw, on 21 August 1610.¹ He married by contract, secondly, Elizabeth Dundas, daughter of Sir James Dundas of Arniston, on 24 January 1616/17.¹ He married, thirdly, Helen Lindsay, daughter of Bernard Lindsay of Lockhill, on 16 January 1627/28.¹ He married, fourthly, Agnes Nicolson, daughter of Thomas Nicolson, on 11 December 1636.¹ A contract for the marriage of Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank and Katherine Weir was signed on 24 March 1637/38.¹ He died on 12 November 1649.¹
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1605 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was admitted to Gray’s Inn.¹ He held the office of Keeper of Caerlaverock Castle in 1611.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Murray, of Etrick Forest, co. Selkirk [Nova Scotia] on 16 May 1628.¹ He was created 1st Lord Elibank, of Etrick Forest, co. Selkirk [Scotland] on 18 March 1643, with special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.¹ In 1646/47 he was one of the six peers who opposed the handing over of King Charles I to the English Parliament.¹

     Sir James Hamilton of Hoprig was the son of Alexander Hamilton, 9th of Innerwick and Christian Hamilton.¹ He married Anne Otterburn, daughter of Thomas Otterburn of Redhall.¹ He died after 24 September 1616.¹

     Margaret Hamilton is the daughter of Alexander Hamilton, 9th of Innerwick and Margaret Whytelaw.² A contract for the marriage of Margaret Hamilton and Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank was signed on 21 August 1610.¹
     From 21 August 1610, her married name became Murray.

     Christian Murray is the daughter of Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank and Margaret Hamilton.² She married George Douglas of Bonjedburgh in 1631.¹
     From 1631, her married name became Douglas.¹

     George Douglas of Bonjedburgh married Christian Murray, daughter of Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank and Margaret Hamilton, in 1631.¹

     Mary Rannie was born on 14 October 1737.² She was the daughter of James Rannie.¹ She was baptised on 15 October 1737 at South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.² She married John Mansfield, son of James Mansfield and Janet McIntosh, on 6 August 1758.¹
     From 6 August 1758, her married name became Mansfield.¹
