     Hon. Maria Rice was born in 1808 at Sutton, Yorkshire, England.1,2 She was the daughter of Reverend Edward Rice and Charlotte Lascelles.3 She married Reverend Edward Bankes on 3 September 1839.1 She died on 17 April 1886.1
     From 3 September 1839, her married name became Bankes. Circa 1869 she was granted the rank of a baron’s daughter.1
