He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG, Cheltenham and RMA Woolwich.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded twice.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1917.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1919.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1940, in Belgium and France.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1942.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier in the Royal Artillery.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Durand, of Ruckley Grange, Shropshire [U.K., 1892] on 4 March 1955.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire between 1957 and 1971.1
