Maj.-Gen. Charles Alexander Cuningham1 
Maj.-Gen. Charles Alexander Cuningham was born on 29 January 1842.2 He was the son of Alexander Cuningham and Caroline Faunce.2 He married, secondly, Innes Playre, daughter of Sir R. Playre.2 He married, firstly, Anne Mackintosh Balfour, daughter of John Mackintosh Balfour, 5th of Pilrig and Anne Rainey, in 1869.3 He died on 24 February 1925 at age 83.2
He gained the rank of Major-General in the Indian Army.1 He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He fought in the Afghan War in 1880.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 127th (Queen Mary’s Own) Beluch Light Infantry.2
