     He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Gurkha Rifles.¹

     Nicholas Marshall Cummins was born on 17 April 1892.¹ He was the son of William Edward Ashley Cummins and Jane Constable Hall.² He married, firstly, Margery Graham Foott, daughter of Richard Ernest Foott and Elisabeth Topp Parker, on 30 April 1921.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Spence Boal, daughter of John Boal, on 27 August 1932.¹ He died on 23 September 1963 at age 71.¹
