     Hon. Evelyn Saumarez was born on 13 August 1883.1 She was the daughter of James St. Vincent Saumarez, 4th Baron Saumarez and Jane Anne Vere-Broke.2 She married Sir John Arthur Haigh Wood, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Wood, 1st Bt. and Estelle Benham, on 30 June 1919.1 She died on 2 May 1934 at age 50.1

Sir John Arthur Haigh Wood, 2nd Bt.1

     Sir John Arthur Haigh Wood, 2nd Bt. was born on 22 May 1888.2 He was the son of Sir John Wood, 1st Bt. and Estelle Benham.2 He married Hon. Evelyn Saumarez, daughter of James St. Vincent Saumarez, 4th Baron Saumarez and Jane Anne Vere-Broke, on 30 June 1919.1 He died on 5 March 1974 at age 85.3
     He was educated at Stubbington House School, Fareham, Hampshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at H.M.S. Britannia, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1912 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, and was mentioned in despatches.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1915.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 4th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1944.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Wood, of Hengrave-in-Hengrave, co. Suffolk [U.K., 1918] on 28 January 1951.1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.4
