     Surg.-Maj. Gerald de Wilton married Laura Judith Montefiore, daughter of Jacob Montefiore and Justina Lydia Gompertz, on 5 February 1856.2
     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major in the 29th Madras Native Infantry.1 He was given the name of Jacob Wilkins at birth.2 In September 1876 his name was legally changed to Gerald de Wilton by notice in the newspapers.2
