     Captain Philip Sidney was baptised on 20 February 1778.1 He was the son of Sir Bysshe Shelley, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Jane Perry.1 He died in August 1799 at age 21, unmarried.1
     He was given the name of Philip Shelley at birth.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 4th Foot.1 On 10 April 1799 his name was legally changed to Philip Sidney by Royal Licence.1
