     Geoffrey Philip Simmons was born on 16 March 1952.¹ He is the son of John Harry Walrond Simmons and Mary Edith Burrard Dashwood.² He married Wendy Jean Aylen, daughter of Maurice Aylen, in 1976.¹
     He was educated at Wycliffe College, Stroud, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹
