     He was given the name of James Hammett at birth.¹ In 1795 his name was legally changed to James Hamlyn.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Hamlyn, of Clovelly Court on 7 July 1795. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Carmarthenshire.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carmarthenshire.¹

     Richard Hamlyn was born in 1706.¹ He died in 1766.¹

     Arabella Williams was born in 1738/39.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Williams and Anne Singleton.¹ She married Sir James Hamlyn, 1st Bt., son of Richard Hamlyn, on 11 June 1762.¹ She died on 22 March 1797.¹
     From 11 June 1762, her married name became Hamlyn.¹

     Thomas Williams was the son of Sir Rice Williams and Mary Vaughan.¹ He married, secondly, Anne Singleton, daughter of William Singleton.¹ He married, firstly, Arabella Vaughan, daughter of John Vaughan.¹ He died in October 1762.¹
     He was admitted to Gray’s Inn entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.¹

     Bridget Williams was the daughter of Thomas Williams and Anne Singleton.¹ She married Robert Banks Hodgkinson, son of Joseph Banks and Anne Hodgkinson, in 1757.¹
     From 1757, her married name became Hodgkinson.¹

     Robert Banks Hodgkinson was the son of Joseph Banks and Anne Hodgkinson.¹ He married Bridget Williams, daughter of Thomas Williams and Anne Singleton, in 1757.¹ He died in 1792.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wareham, Dorset.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Carmarthenshire in 1784.¹
