Sir James Hamlyn, 1st Bt.1 
He was given the name of James Hammett at birth.1 In 1795 his name was legally changed to James Hamlyn.1 He was created 1st Baronet Hamlyn, of Clovelly Court on 7 July 1795. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Carmarthenshire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carmarthenshire.1
